Elliotte Friedman confirms one specific team involved in trade talks for Quinn Hughes
Quinn Hughes' future in the NHL appears to be beyond the Vancouver Canucks, and now the league's top insider has confirmed talks with the New Jersey Devils.
For years now, Quinn Hughes has established himself as one of the elite defenseman in the National Hockey League, with the Vancouver Canucks committing to him long-term and making him their captain.
Unfortunately, that talent leading the way hasn't quite been enough in recent times, with the team struggling once more after missing the post-season a year ago, and now, that could lead to change.
Vancouver Canucks talking to a familiar team in Quinn Hughes trade discussions
Over the past 12 months, there's been constant speculation over the future of Hughes in Vancouver, with many believing that it's a matter of when, not if he's traded by the only NHL team he's known thus far.
Now, those talks have only grown louder, with NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman reporting on Saturday night that the Canucks have had preliminary and ongoing discussions with the New Jersey Devils over their star blue liner.
This should come as no shock to anyone given that New Jersey are the team that feature both of Quinn's brothers, Jack and Luke, with the Devils long being the team that many expected to pry Hughes out of Vancouver.
As of right now, the Devils may be considered the front runner to land the superstar blue liner, and while there are teams that may be able to offer similar deals, if it comes down to the best offer and the best landing spot for Hughes, than all eyes once again turn to New Jersey.
