New Jersey Devils Unexpectedly Call Up Seven Players After Possible Injuries to Luke Hughes and Brendan Dillon

This season was a successful one for the New Jersey Devils, but with the team now down 2-0 in their first round series with the Carolina Hurricanes, they are on the brink of completely falling apart.

Those struggles in the post-season are in part due to major injuries, with the team already missing players such as Jack Hughes and Jonas Siegenthaler, and now, things have gotten worse.

According to reports, both Brendan Dillon and Luke Hughes are dealing with injury issues, and as a result, they have officially recalled no less than six players to cover for the injuries.

Unfortunately for the Devils, almost all of the players they recalled are young and lack significant experience at the NHL level, and if they do miss both Dillon and Hughes as the series shifts back to New Jersey, they'll need a miracle to hold on in this series.

Among the forwards were Mike Hardman, Nathan Legare and Marc McLaughlin, all of whom made their NHL debuts for the Devils this season, meaning that they'll continue to be highly outgunned in their matchup with the loaded and red-hot Carolina Hurricanes.

Ultimately, the odds are against New Jersey already, and if they do miss two key players alongside the injuries they're already dealing with, their season could be over, but if they stay alive and get healthy, absolutely anything could happen in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
