Major update on Sheldon Keefe's next team
The Toronto Maple Leafs parted ways with Sheldon Keefe after another disappointing finish, but now he's in line to land on his feet in New Jersey.
After years of leading Toronto to regular season success, they were fed up with the playoff failures, and now Sheldon Keefe is officially on the hunt for another opportunity. Reportedly however, he's not going to wait long, as he has officially become the favourite to take over Travis Green in New Jersey, according to renowned Devils writer Ryan Novozinsky.
The scales seem to be tipping toward Sheldon Keefe being the #NJDevils' favorite coaching candidate.
Friedman on 32 Thoughts today: "Keefe has a legit chance at this if he wants it."
The Devils were also reportedly interested in Maple Leafs target Craig Berube, but at this point, with a young, talented roster, it appears they're looking for long-term success by adding the younger Keefe. We've seen what Keefe led teams do in the playoffs, but perhaps that is more a reflection of the roster being built in Toronto, so for now, we will wait and see when this officially gets announced, but when it does, it's a great opportunity for Keefe to prove many doubters wrong.
