We've had hints that Max Domi wants to stick around as a Toronto Maple Leaf, and now we're getting a clearer picture of what his next contract might entail.

Domi's last season with the Leafs was solid, not spectacular, but he brought a unique set of skills to the team. Yes, he put up respectable point totals, with 47 points in 80 games and 4 points in 7 playoff games. Yet Domi's real value lies in his playoff prowess. He's the kind of player who thrives in the tough, physical postseason battleshitting, scrapping, and making plays in the dirty areas. He's also a reliable facilitator and winning faceoffs.

During the regular season, Domi found a home on the top line alongside Auston Matthews, forming a dynamic trio with Tyler Bertuzzi. Their chemistry was undeniable, making them one of the Leafs' most effective lines all season long.

Of course, it's hard to talk about Max Domi without mentioning his father, Tie Domi, a beloved Leafs enforcer. While Max might not have his dad's fighting prowess, he's no stranger to the penalty box, ranking 6th in PIMs in the NHL this year with 118.

If GM Brad Treliving can fit Domi in with a reasonable cap hit under $5 million, after he just made $3 million, he's within reach for the Leafs.
Given their mutual satisfaction with the fit, it's likely we'll see Domi back next season. The big question is, what will the cap hit be, and how long will the contract run?
