Jonathan Marchessault was a massive pickup for the Predators, but now, less than two years later, it appears as though he's on the way out.
In the summer of 2024, the Nashville Predators swooped in and landed not one, not two but three massive free agents, and given how wide open the Central Division was, the hope was that they could contend for years to come.
Unfortunately, the production from the overall group just hasn't been there over the past 18 months, and now, after the departure of Barry Trotz as General Manager, it appears as though some big moves could be on the way.
Jonathan Marchessault open to being dealt
While the team likely aren't listening on homegrown stars like Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg or Juuse Saros, they are open to dealing one of those big free agents, with the player most likely to move being former Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Marchessault.
There has been many reports about Marchessault's future in Nashville, and now, a new report has revealed that both parties are open to a change, with the potential of a trade growing with the deadline now just a month away.
With just 10 goals and 17 points in 38 games played this season, it's unclear whether or not there would be a massive return for the talented winger, but the belief is, in a better system, he could still be a very productive player.
Only time will tell whether or not the Predators pull the trigger on a deal, but given how good Marchessault was in the years before landing in Nashville, it would not be a surprise if he's dealt ahead of the 2026 trade deadline.
