Nashville Predators assistant captain Ryan O'Reilly was once again highly critical of himself, saying he was "absolute garbage" in their 5-2 loss to the Utah Mammoth on Saturday at home.
Once again, Nashville Predators forward Ryan O'Reilly is calling himself out after what he thinks is a poor performance by his standards.
O'Reilly and the Predators were beaten 5-2 today by the Utah Mammoth, and after the game, O'Reilly threw himself under the bus and said that he's been "garbage".
I've been garbage. Just losing battles, not winning many face-offs. ... I've got to be better. The second period, it got away from us. Especially because it's my job to be harder against their top line. They had a couple of big goals there. That's a couple games in a row, myself and my line haven't played the other top lines the way we need to. - Ryan O'Reilly
It's not the first time this year that O'Reilly has thrown himself under the bus for a bad performance.
Ryan O'Reilly Has Been Embroiled In Trade Rumours
The Predators have been mired in inconsistency so far this year, and there have been multiple players who have been embroiled in trade rumours, O'Reilly among them.
There was even reportedly a deal in place last year to send him back to the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he previously played after being acquired at the 2023 trade deadline, but he nixed it.
So far this year, O'Reilly has 50 points (18G, 32A) in 51 games played. He has another year left on his contract beyond this one with an AAV (average annual value) of $4.5 million.
