The Nashville Predators lineup is a disappointing one heading into 2025/26, and now the team may be set to trade a top star according to Elliotte Friedman.
The Nashville Predators went all in during free agency a season ago, but unfortunately things didn't pan out how they wanted, and now, the lineup is a mess heading into the new season.
As a result, the team have
Brady Martin, a pick from the 2025 NHL Draft set to be their
top line centre this season, and unsurprisingly, that means that not many Predators fans are hopeful of a Stanley Cup run this season.
Top Predators star on the trade market
Now, that has led to plenty of trade speculation surrounding this team, with Elliotte Friedman noting on the latest episode of the
32 Thoughts podcast that teams are keeping an eye on top star
Filip Forsberg.
"One name to keep an eye on is Filip Forsberg. I'm hearing Nashville might look to move him. Now, I'm not saying this, but I am wondering if that's something that Treliving and the Leafs will be looking into it."
Friedman didn't state that the Toronto Maple Leafs were a team that has been in contact with Nashville, but out of pure speculation, he notes that they would be the perfect fit if GM Brad Treliving wants to make a trade deadline splash at some point.
Given how Forsberg has thrived through the Predators struggles, he could likely net them a huge return, and after tallying 31 goals and 76 points in all 82 games played a season ago, if he starts the season like that again and the team struggle, don't be surprised to see the team move him throughout the year.
