A new report from several former Montreal Canadiens players has accused previous General Manager Marc Bergevin of mistreating alumni. The report brings up specific incidents where Bergevin mistreated the former players.
Bergevin Accused Of Mistreating Former Players
Earlier today on BPM Sports Radio former Montreal Canadiens player and current radio host Gilbert Delorme used his platform to accuse Bergevin of mistreating former Canadiens players. According to Delorme Bergevin restricted the actions of franchise greats like Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur.
He explained, in French, how Bergevin banned Beliveau from walking certain corridors of the Bell Centre and Lafleur from parking in the players section.
According to Delorme, Bergevin didn't like that when Beliveau attended games, he would walk pass the dressing room and therefore demanded that security make sure he's take a different path to make it to the Alumni lounge.
While this report is all from the perspective of a former player there have been reports in the past that Bergevin disrespected former players regularly. One has to wonder if this has led to his demise as the man in charge.
New Regime Turns Around Relationship With Key Alumni
Along with the reports putting Bergevin down for his treatment of the key alumni, there was also praise for the new regime.
Gilbert revealed some information regarding the former Canadiens during the Marc Bergevin era on Le Club du matin earlier today.
It's day and night now with the Hughes-Gorton tandem
By all accounts from fans to players to former players the Montreal Canadiens are in better hands under Kent Hughs and Jeff Gorton. If they can get the success on the ice going then all will be well and improved in Montreal for the Canadiens.
