Montreal Canadiens make a major change before game 2 leaving fans disappointed

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals is set to kick off in a few hours and just before puck drop the Montreal Canadiens have made a controversial decision.
The Montreal Canadiens are known for their dedicated fan base that is willing to travel far and wide to support their team.
Throughout the playoffs so far, the Canadiens have held watch parties during both home and road games for fans to come together and support the team while watching the game together.
After hosting watch parties throughout the playoffs, many expected this to continue for Game 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
However, a new announcement from the Canadiens has shut down these reports and confirmed no watch party will take place tonight.
Canadiens unexpectedly shut down watch party for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals
In a statement put out by the Canadiens on X, the organization will not be holding a watch party on Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal.
Contrary to a few media reports from earlier today, the organization will not be hosting an outdoor watch party for Game 2 tonight on Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal.
The shut down of this watch party has caused frustration from fans who were hoping to come together and support their team.

According to those in the area, the cancellation has to due with Formula 1 heading to Montreal for the weekend.
It's just because of the Formula 1 weekend! End of story!
Instead, it seems a watch party will be conducted at the casino downtown.
After Game 2 concludes and Formula 1 leaves town it will be interesting to see if watch parties return or if alternative sites become the new normal for Canadiens playoff watch parties.
