There has been major interest by multiple teams in the services of Patrik Laine. Up until recently, the Carolina Hurricanes were linked to trading for Laine, however that quickly died down following the NHL draft in June.
Now, it's the Montreal Canadiens' turn to have a heavy interest in Laine's services. It seems as though GM Kent Hughes of the Canadiens is hammering out some numbers and some sources around the league believe both teams are one barrier away from striking a deal that would be absolutely Earth shattering, in a good way, for both teams.
The Canadiens were in heavy need of offense last season, and Laine has not been able to flourish on a bottom-feeding Columbus team. This potential trade that is brewing could possibly have both of these issues solved.
