A new report states that hometown Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy could be on the verge of requesting a trade following another tough training camp.

The Montreal Canadiens have one of the deepest prospect pools in the entire NHL. It was even ranked third by The Athletic, just behind the San Jose Sharks and the Minnesota Wild.
The Habs spent a few years rebuilding and stacking draft picks and top prospects. One of those prospects, drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, showed a lot of promise, but appears to be nearing the end of his journey with the team.
Indeed, according to a new report, we learned that Joshua Roy could end up getting traded by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

Joshua Roy To Meet With Habs Mangement: A Trade Could Come

Joshua Roy came into this year's training camp in the best shape of his life. He had to. Since his draft, he took part in 35 NHL games but spent last season in the AHL and wanted to leave a strong impression to return to the Habs lineup for the season opener.
However, he was cut last week after two disappointing preseason games.
The player showed his great potential in junior, tallying over 200 points in the last two seasons of his junior career. He also showed a lot of skills at the 2023 World Junior Championship, completing a line with Connor Bedard when the team won the gold medal.
However, he has struggled to bring the same impact since.
A new development suggests his time with the Canadiens could end soon. In fact, Roy will have a meeting with the Habs management team and, according to Habs insider Anthony Martineau, if things don't go well at that meeting, Roy could end up being traded over the coming months.
In his own words:
"The Joshua Roy camp will have a meeting with the Canadiens soon.

The goal? To clarify the plan regarding the Quebec forward.

If the meeting is not deemed satisfactory for either party, I would not be surprised at all to see the young man traded in the coming months."
Roy always had a bit of an attitude when things didn't go his way, which probably hurt his development at some point. Habs fans hope to see him succeed, and if that doesn't happen, traded for an interesting return.
