Elliotte Friedman shuts down trade rumours tying Montreal Canadiens to star Robert Thomas

The trade deadline is now only days away, and there is expected to be a flurry of activity from multiple teams.

One of the most expected teams that could shed multiple pieces is the Vancouver Canucks, who have names like Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk, Evander Kane and Conor Garland who could all be playing in new cities by the end of the week.

Another team is the St. Louis Blues, who have multiple players including Justin Faulk, Robert Thomas and Brayden Schenn who could be moved.

Thomas has been linked to multiple teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, who are trying to make a return to the postseason for the second straight year.

But per a report from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, don't expect the Habs to get Thomas.

The trade deadline is March 6

The Blues are going to miss the playoffs only a year after they had a tremendous second half of the season with new head coach Jim Montgomery behind the bench.

They came within literal seconds of eliminating the President's Trophy-winning Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the playoffs last spring, but have been far too inconsistent this year for a return trip to the playoffs.

Don't be surprised to see names like Thomas, Faulk and Schenn playing in new sweaters by the end of the week.
