Based on the latest. comments from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, the future of New York Rangers defenseman Adam Fox with the team could be in doubt with the trade deadline looming.

It's been another disaster of a year for the New York Rangers, who are last place in the Eastern Conference and are heading toward missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight year.
They made numerous changes, including firing Peter Laviolette for Mike Sullivan, but those changes haven't resulted in success on the ice. In fact, they've already been shut out at home a staggering seven times, and nine overall.
There are multiple players on the Rangers who could soon be moved before the trade deadline hits on Friday, one of them being Vincent Trocheck. The club has already traded star forward Artemi Panarin to the Los Angeles Kings.
But there could be another core Rangers player who finds himself on the move. Per recent comments from NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman, defenseman Adam Fox's future with the team is murky if he decides he doesn't want to be part of a long rebuilding process.
Elliotte Friedman: Re Adam Fox: This is a guy who wanted to be a Ranger; but if it's gonna be a rebuild, you know, he might not want that - FAN Hockey Show (2/27)
So far this year, Fox has 28 points (4G, 24A) in 32 games.

Adam Fox Won The Norris Trophy In 2021

The Rangers appeared to have a young franchise defenseman on their hands when Fox won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman in 2021.
He essentially forced his way to the Rangers after being taken by the Calgary Flames with the 66th pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. They traded his rights to the Carolina Hurricanes, and then the Rangers.
He still has three years left on his current contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $9.5 million.
