Canadiens make final decision with Samuel Montembeault after demotion to AHL
The Montreal Canadiens have confirmed that struggling goaltender Samuel Montembeault will soon be rejoining the team after playing in the American Hockey League Laval Rocket.
The Montreal Canadiens have not gotten the kind of goaltending they expected this year from Samuel Montembeault, and even recently demoted him to the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket.
But the team has announced that his time with the Rocket is coming to a close and that he'll soon be rejoining the team. Per a report from NHL analyst Eric Engels, Montembeault will be back with the Habs after the Christmas break.

Montembeault himself recently said that he's working on getting back to the basics that made him successful.
I felt like I was shrinking a bit too much, I was putting my hands too much in front. you got to go back basics and what made me successful was playing big and beating the pass and making the saves. We're just working on going back to playing bigger. - Samuel Montembeault
So far this year, Montembeault is 5-6-1 with a .857 SV%.
Samuel Montembeault Did Not Win A Game With The Laval Rocket
During his assignment with the Laval Rocket, Montembeault did not win a game, going 0-2.
But his stats were slightly better, as he posted a 2.53 GAA and a .904 SV%.
He was taken by the divisional foe Florida Panthers with the 77th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, and started his career with them before being waived in 2021 and being claimed by the Canadiens.
