'Avoidable': Craig Berube makes his thoughts clear after tough Leafs loss to Predators
The Maple Leafs have been struggling as of late, and after falling to the Predators on Saturday, Craig Berube clearly wasn't happy with some of the goals allowed.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been expected to be a dominant regular season force every year for the past few seasons, but in 2025/26, that clearly hasn't been the case at all.
With a record of 15-14-5, things have been tough going in Toronto as of late, and given how tight the Eastern Conference is, they find themselves facing an uphill battle to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs race.
Craig Berube disappointed after latest Maple Leafs loss
On Saturday, things didn't get any better, as the Leafs fell 5-3 to the leagues second worst team the Nashville Predators, a clear indication that potentially, the Maple Leafs don't have the consistency this season to be a threat.
After the game, it was no shock that Craig Berube was immensely frustrated, stating on several occasions that goals were 'avoidable', clearly showing that his team needs to be better on the ice.
I think that late goal we gave up late in the second period was avoidable, third goal was avoidable. - Craig Berube
As of right now, it's unclear what Toronto can do to turn things around, but over the past few weeks, the spotlight has gotten increasingly bright, and still this team fails to rise to the occasion.
Whether or not that's the fault of the roster construction, the team on the ice or the Head Coach, only time will tell, but if they continue to play the way they did Saturday night against Nashville, this is a team that's headed for a serious shakeup at the end of the 2025/26 season.
