Matvei Michkov caught having tantrum on the bench during live broadcast

In 2024/25, Matvei Michkov arrived in the National Hockey League to plenty of hype, with many believing that the Philadelphia Flyers had landed a potential centrepiece of the future.

Last season, Michkov tallied 26 goals and 63 points in 80 games played, but it wasn't all good, as he often clashed with then Head Coach John Tortorella, which many believe will happen regardless if you're a young player in the league.

During the Flyers 5-4 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers on Saturday night, we saw more of that from Michkov, as video from the broadcast has been posted on social media showing an interaction with him and Head Coach Rick Tocchet that appears very much like him throwing a tantrum.

At 21-years of age, he's clearly not as mature as veteran players, and while that's certainly to be expected, a display like this on the bench with the Head Coach definitely isn't a great look for the young forward.

This year, he's been solidly productive but not at the same level as a year ago, posting 8 goals and 19 points in 34 games played, and while this may be becoming an overall issue, they still believe in him as a key piece of their future.

Ultimately, this may have been a disagreement where both parties were at fault, but given the reports about Michkov's attitude, it certainly doesn't reflect well on him, and now we'll wait to see if further details emerge on what was said between the two.
