Canadiens' Jake Evans steps away from the team for personal reasons
The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Jake Evans is stepping away from the team because of unnamed personal reasons and won't play tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Montreal Canadiens are not going to have forward Jake Evans available to them for tomorrow's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the team has announced that he has departed the team because of personal reasons.
The reasons behind his departure weren't named, and it would not be appropriate to speculate on them.
The Canadiens also announced that Evans plans on re-joining the team in New York before their game against the Original Six foe New York Rangers.
So far this year, Evans has eight points (4G, 4A) in 29 games. He was taken with the 207th overall pick by the Habs in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, and played four years at the University of Notre Dame before starting his career with the Rocket in 2018.
He started with the Habs in 2019-20, and has remained with the team ever since.
The Canadiens Made Multiple Moves After Their Blowout Loss To The Lightning
The Canadiens were embarrassed against the divisional foe Tampa Bay Lightning, losing 6-1.
After the game, they announced multiple roster moves.
They brought up the trio of Owen Beck, Adam Engstrom and Jacob Fowler from the American Hockey League affiliate Laval Rocket.
Beck plays a similar style to Evans and should help offset his absence for the game against the Penguins, who are off to a much better start than almost anyone would have realistically expected of them coming into this season.
