Canadiens among three teams directly linked to Canucks' Kiefer Sherwood
Kiefer Sherwood is a major piece available on the trade block, and now it appears the Montreal Canadiens are ready to make a move for the talented winger.
The NHL trade rumours are swirling after the first two months of the season, and unsurprisingly, it's led to the likes of Vancouver and Calgary both potentially looking to be sellers.
Perhaps the most intriguing trade piece among the bottom tier teams is winger Kiefer Sherwood, who broke out in a big way in 2024/25, as he not only led the NHL in hits, but put up 19 goals and 40 points as well.
Montreal linked to Kiefer Sherwood
Already we've seen Sherwood linked to several teams, and now, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has revealed some interest from the Montreal Canadiens in the 30-year old.
Trade talks continue with teams like the Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars; I don't believe, as of today, the Canucks have granted teams permission to speak with his agent about a possible extension.
Given his physicality as well as his goal scoring ability, it's no shock that the Canadiens are just one of many teams eyeing up Sherwood, with the Canucks knowing the interest level, as they've already put a major price on his acquisition.
In Montreal, a physical winger like this would be an amazing addition, and given how young this team is up front, a veteran with 300 NHL games of experience would be a fantastic pickup, so while they're not the only team in the Sherwood sweepstakes, if Kent Hughes is intent on landing him, he'll find a way to get it done.
