The Connor Hellebuyck trade saga between Buffalo and Winnipeg is far from over, and insider David Pagnotta is offering fresh insight into what the Sabres might be willing to give up.

Speaking on The Sheet, Pagnotta laid out the possibilities facing Buffalo general manager as talks with the Jets continue.
Is it a Jack Quinn that's part of a combination, is it one of their younger kids, one of their draft picks... along with Ryan McLeod or Quinn or whomever that they potentially include.
Pagnotta then pointed to the layered options Buffalo could construct around a deal for the three-time Vezina winner.

Why Quinn Keeps Coming Up

Quinn has been the name attached to Hellebuyck rumors since before the 2026 draft, when Buffalo's offer reportedly included the fourth overall pick, goaltender Ukko Pekka Luukkonen and Quinn himself.
That deal fell apart, but Quinn's inclusion in future packages remains a live storyline given his age and remaining offensive upside.
McLeod, by contrast, has drawn more internal support in Buffalo's front office after a strong two-way season, which may push the Sabres toward using him as a secondary piece rather than the centerpiece.

What It Means for Winnipeg

For the Jets, any package likely needs to include a blend of NHL-ready talent and futures given Hellebuyck's no-movement clause and the five years remaining on his deal.
Pagnotta's comments suggest Buffalo has multiple internal scenarios ready depending on what Winnipeg prioritizes in return.
With training camps approaching, expect these talks to intensify. Buffalo has shown it's serious about upgrading its crease, and Winnipeg's asking price will shape whether a deal gets done before the season starts.
