Former Edmonton Oilers forward Warren Foegele is now with the rival Los Angeles Kings, and had some surprising comments about his old team.
The Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers have faced one another in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last 3 years, and could very well be on a collision course for a 4th-straight opening round matchup next month.
The Oilers, who advanced to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final last year before falling short to the Florida Panthers, weren't able to retain every player from their roster.
One player who didn't return was forward Warren Foegele, who signed with the Kings on a 3-year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $3.5 million.
Foegele, who played the last 3 years with the Oilers, is now on the other side of the rivalry. As such, he had some rather surprising comments about his old club during a recent interview.
I don't know, I'm part of it, like I hate them too. I hate the Oilers too, so it's just part of the game.
Later in the interview, Foegele loved a photo of himself scoring against the Oilers while noting the reaction from ex-teammate
Evan Bouchard.
That's a great picture. That's me scoring against the Oilers. That's probably one of my best friends, Evan Bouchard, and he is caught smiling at me scoring! That's a good friend, for sure.
In his 1st year with the Kings, Foegele has 37 points (19G, 18A) in 65 games. Last spring, Foegele contributed 8 points (3G, 5A) in 22 playoff games as the Oilers advanced to within a game of their 1st Stanley Cup since 1990.
