Filip Chytil has had a very unlucky run with concussions, and after the latest hit from Chicago's Jason Dickinson, there's fears for his future in the NHL.
The career of Filip Chytil has been full of potential, but due to injuries, especially concussions, he never quite lived up to the hype in New York before being acquired by the Vancouver Canucks in the
J.T. Miller trade.
Unfortunately, that ugly injury history has reared its head again, as Chytil missed the teams last game after taking a hit from Jason Dickinson that saw him immediately taken out of their matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks.
When asked about Chytil's condition on Monday, Head Coach Rick Tocchet revealed that while Chytil feels okay, the hit from Dickinson sent him straight into concussion protocol, quickly mentioning the history of injury that he's had.
«I talked to him today a little bit. He felt OK, nothing great. He'll go through the every day to see how he feels type of thing. He has had a few (concussions) in the past and we'll see how this thing turns out.
While it's not confirmed that he'll be out long-term, the Canucks head to Madison Square Garden these week, and according to plenty of speculation, he's in line to miss his return against his former team.
There's plenty of steps that Chytil needs to take before getting back on the ice, but with this being his fifth documented concussion since arriving in the NHL, the Canucks may take a step back and look at Chytil's future beyond just this season due to injury.
We will learn more as the team continue to give updates on his status, but as of now he remains out, and with him taking the ice again representing a major risk, we will see how this plays out and how the team handle him moving forward.
