New Los Angeles Kings forward Artemi Panarin has apparently settled a good natured dispute over his new sweater number that he'll be wearing as the newest star in Hollywood.
There is a brand new star in Hollywood, and his name is Artemi Panarin, who was recently acquired by the Los Angeles Kings from the New York Rangers.
The Kings didn't have to give up very much to acquire Panarin, who was the biggest name on the trade market after the Rangers announced he would not be given a new contract by GM Chris Drury; they traded prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional third round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
Panarin was then extended by the Kings, a two year contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $11 million.
Panarin, who had worn sweater No. 10 since signing with the Rangers in 2019, apparently wanted to wear No. 72, which was already worn by the famous Kings mascot, Bailey.
But apparently, there's been a good-natured resolution to this minor problem, and it looks like Panarin has gotten his wish.
Artemi Panarin Was Acquired By The Kings From The Rangers
It's been a miserable year for the New York Rangers, who are in last place in the Eastern Conference and won't make the playoffs for the second year in a row.
Rangers GM Chris Drury has been getting heavily criticized by fans and media of the team, and there were many upset fans at how little they received in return for Panarin.
During Panarin's time in New York, the team advanced twice to the Eastern Conference Final, but no further. The Rangers have only advanced to the Stanley Cup Final twice in the last 32 years, in 1994 and 2014.
