Tristan Jarry reveals the truth behind his trade to Edmonton
Tristan Jarry has long been linked to the Edmonton Oilers, and now he's revealed exactly why he ended up with the reigning Western Conference Champions.
For years now, there has been major speculation over the Edmonton Oilers goaltending situation, with many fans being shocked that they entered the 2025/26 season with Stuart Skinner once again in the No. 1 role.
He struggled early in the year, and unsurprisingly, the pressure mounted on the front office, as they eventually pulled the trigger, landing Tristan Jarry in a trade that many saw coming for quite some time.
Tristan Jarry reveals how the Oilers trade came to be
Now, after playing against the Toronto Maple Leafs, making 25 saves in a victory on Saturday night, he has opened up on why the trade to Edmonton happened, revealing that it was what he wanted.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Jarry knew the writing was on the wall in Pittsburgh, and given that he lives in Edmonton in the summer, he informed the Penguins front office that he would like to be traded to the Oilers.
Kyle Dubas and the Penguins then made the deal happen quickly, acquiring Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak and a second-round pick in the process in a move that saw the Oilers also take on Jarry's entire contract.
We now wait and see whether or not the veteran can be an upgrade over Skinner, but with the Oilers desperately needing to make a change, this always seemed very likely, and with Jarry making it clear that Edmonton was where he wanted to be, both sides pushed to get the deal done.
