Jack Roslovic was finally picked up by the Oilers this off-season, and now, we know why the Oilers decided to sign the talented forward.
The Edmonton Oilers reportedly tried to land Jack Roslovic earlier this summer, but for an unknown reason, the veteran centre decided to turn them down as he pursued a different deal, which he clearly didn't find as he remained a free agent until the opening games of the year.
However, on Wednesday during their season opener with the Calgary Flames, the team announced the signing of Roslovic,
adding the talented forward to a roster that is in need of some experienced depth.
Jack Roslovic to Boost Oilers' 5v5 Production
Now, General Manager Stan Bowman has addressed the signing, noting how much they loved him during talks early in the summer, while also revealing the reason they still wanted to bring him in, as he will add some depth and production, especially at even strength.
"We think he could be a really nice piece to our group right now I think he might have led the [Carolina Hurricanes] in even-strength points last year. That's one thing we're trying to add to our group."
According to Bowman, one of the biggest reasons why the team brought Roslovic in was his production at even strength, something that the team were desperately looking for as the new season begins.
It's going to take time for Roslovic to fit in, but with Edmonton having a clear need down the middle, it made sense to make the move now, and after putting up 22 goals a year ago, if Roslovic can find a role on this team, expect him to put up some big numbers alongside these Oilers stars.
