Edmonton Oilers working on trading $7.3M winger per Frank Seravalli
Andrew Mangiapane was a big signing for the Oilers in the summer, but after struggling early in the season, it appears he's on the way out.
The Edmonton Oilers made some massive changes to their roster this summer, and while they got younger for the most part, they also added some solid veteran talent to this group that fell just short in the Stanley Cup Playoffs a year ago.
After having some success with the rival Calgary Flames years ago, the Oilers were hoping to get the former 40-goal scorer back to his very best as he could have had a significant role in their top-six.
Unfortunately, Mangiapane has struggled for much of the 2025/26 season, posting just 5 goals and 11 points alongside a -16 differential through 39 games early in the year.
Edmonton Oilers working to deal Mangiapane
As a result, the latest report from Frank Seravalli on Oilers Now has revealed that the team have been up front with the veteran winger that unfortunately things haven't worked out, and they're looking to actively deal him.
The Oilers have been really upfront and honest with anyone who has taken a chance...come here, we'll give you an opportunity; if it doesn't work out we'll do our best to move you; that's part of what's going on. - Frank Seravalli
At this time, it's unclear if there's a robust market for the talented winger, but given the fact that he's struggled to produce since his career year back in 2021/22 with the Flames, there's a good chance that there's not much interest in him.
Ultimately, this was a risk worth taking for the Oilers as they looked to replace Evander Kane and Corey Perry, but things just haven't worked out, and now they'll continue working hard to find Mangiapane a new role elsewhere in the NHL.
