Tristan Jarry is sick, so Matt Tomkins starts for the Oilers against the Ducks tonight after Devon Levi and Frederik Andersen both landed on injured reserve.

The Edmonton Oilers have run out of goalies, at least the ones they planned on using.
Tristan Jarry is dealing with an illness and was not on the ice for Thursday's morning skate, which means Matt Tomkins will get the nod against the Anaheim Ducks tonight at Rogers Place. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET.
Head coach Mike Babcock told reporters Jarry is sick and not hurt, so there is no panic about a long absence just yet.
Still, the timing is rough. Jarry is now the third goaltender from the Oilers' original three-man plan to be sidelined, joining Devon Levi and Frederik Andersen, who are both on injured reserve.

Tomkins gets another shot

Tomkins is a 32-year-old veteran who has spent most of his career in the minors and was recalled from the Bakersfield Condors on Oct. 23.
He made his Oilers debut on Sunday, Nov. 1 against the New York Rangers and stopped 27 of 28 shots in a 4-1 win.
That performance is the reason this call feels a lot less scary than it might have.
Edmonton heads into the night at 11-2-3, while the Ducks sit at 7-7-1 but boast the league's best power play.
The Oilers have also tightened up defensively this season, which has helped whoever is in net look steady.

What comes next for the crease

Levi skated as the backup during the morning session, which is an encouraging sign, though nothing is official on his return.
Andersen remains out too, so the crease stays a question mark until someone gets cleared.
For Oilers fans, tonight is a test of depth more than anything.
Tomkins already showed he can hold his own, and with Connor McDavid leading the league in points, Edmonton does not need a miracle in goal.
It needs steady saves and a clean start to this four-game homestand.
