Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane still believes his team can make the playoffs despite their position in the standings.

The season is starting to come down to the wire for teams in the hunt for a wild card position.
The race in the Western Conference seems largely locked up with the Blues holding a five-point cushion in the second wild-card spot but its a little bit tighter in the East.
Currently, the Montreal Canadiens hold the final spot with 81 points through 75 games.
However there are several teams within striking distance including the Rangers with 79 points and the Red Wings and Blue Jackets both sit with 77 points, four back of Montreal.
While the Canadiens certainly are the most likely team to win the race, with three teams chasing them they will be forced to play well in the final games of the season.
As such, Red Wings veteran Patrick Kane believes his club still has a chance, and they are going to remain optimistic until they are eliminated.
He revealed that the team has been playing "I'm Still Alive" by Pearl Jam on a regular basis in the final stretch.
"Its kind of fitting for the situation we're in and have been in for the last little while. There's nothing better than winning a game and hearing that song after and feeling good about the team getting a win. We're trying to find ways to stay alive, obviously we're four back right now but we have Montreal on the Schedule so huge game tomorrow for us."

Kane and the Red Wings were in a playoff position for most of the season, but have fallen behind Montreal over the last month as the teams trend in opposite directions.
This led to Red Wings head coach Tod McLellan calling out the team last month but they remain on the outside looking in.
Hopefully for Detroit they can get hot in the final stretch and sneak their way back into the playoffs. A win against Montreal would certainly go a long way to reaching that goal.
