This afternoon, a new report from Helene St. James has provided new details on the trade saga between the Detroit Red Wings and Dylan Larkin.
Earlier this summer, Dylan Larkin submitted a trade request to GM Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings.
The request came on the heels of a disappointing season where the Red Wings once again narrowly missed the playoffs.
However, since the trade request from Larkin there has not been much progress or news on a potential deal.
Now, Helene St. James has confirmed things are not looking good for Larkin in Detroit.
Red Wings insider gives latest update on Dylan Larkin's trade saga
In a recent appearance on the Jason Gregor show, St. James was asked about the Larkin situation.
According to St. James, even after the firing of Steve Yzerman the management in place in Detroit have not made progress on a trade involving Larkin.
Teams that are inquiring about Larkin have not been willing to pay the hefty price set by the Red Wings for him.
This means Larkin will likely have to increase his list of teams he's willing to be traded to or back off the request entirely.
I think he's gonna have to expand [his list]" said St. James on the Jason Gregor Show. "It's the middle of July and the Wings haven't gotten anything that they needed from those teams.
Additionally, St. James took a bit of a dig at Larkin inquiring whether or not the player was too confident other teams would want to trade for him.
This is what I have a hard time understanding, did Dylan Larkin not think this through? asked St. James. I don't understand how he didn't know that they basically needed somebody just like him back.
Now, the pressure seems to be back on Larkin to make a decision whether to expand his list, back off his trade request, or potential sit out if a trade does not materialize before opening night.
As more news is reported on the Red Wings plans for Dylan Larkin we will pass that news along to you.
