A new report says a Dylan Larkin trade could be imminent, with the suspended Red Wings forward still waiting on a deal from his 10-team list.
Dylan Larkin's standoff with the Detroit Red Wings may finally be nearing the finish line.
An insider on X says a trade for the 30-year-old forward could be imminent, though nothing has been confirmed by either side.
Larkin asked for a trade in June, and things only got messier from there.
Detroit suspended him without pay on Thursday, October 29, after his agent told the team he would no longer play for the club.
The former captain has been sitting out since.
Why a deal is tricky
Larkin holds a full no-trade clause, so he controls where he lands.
He first gave Detroit a short list of three teams, the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and Vegas Golden Knights, then widened it to 10.
Interim general manager Shawn Horcoff has said Detroit will be patient, but adding more teams would make a deal easier.
That list is the main hurdle. Any deal needs Larkin's approval, and Detroit has made it clear the return has to support its long-term goals.
What comes next
Minnesota is believed to have put together one of the better packages, according to ESPN's Emily Kaplan, and Montreal has popped up in speculation as a possible fit if Larkin adds Canadian clubs to his list.
Larkin is signed through 2030-31 at $8.7 million per season, so whichever team lands him is taking on a long commitment for a 30-year-old center.
Nothing is official until a team and Detroit agree on the paperwork, but this report hints the next few days could be big.
Red Wings fans have waited months for answers, and the rest of the league has been watching just as closely.
