Dylan Larkin remains Red Wings captain, but Montreal insiders say the Canadiens are ready to move fast if he adds them to his trade list.
Dylan Larkin is still wearing the Red Wings captain's C, but the door to a trade keeps creaking open a little wider, and this time the noise is coming from Montreal.
According to Renaud Lavoie of BPM Sports, the Canadiens front office would welcome Larkin with open arms if he ever softened his stance on playing in Canada.
"You just have to put the name (Montreal), and then it could be resolved extremely quickly."

Larkin's original list of preferred destinations included only the Panthers, Golden Knights and Wild, teams he named back in June.
Lavoie now reports the Stars may have quietly been added to that list, though Montreal still has not made the cut.
Why Detroit's front office shakeup matters
Detroit is reportedly closing in on naming a new general manager as soon as Monday or Tuesday, months after Steve Yzerman stepped down from the role in July.
A fresh voice running hockey operations could repair the relationship that soured under Yzerman or lower Detroit's asking price, which had reportedly centered on landing a first line center in return.
Montreal has the assets to make a real offer, with a deep prospect pool and draft capital that few rival teams can match.
Larkin is only 30 and signed for five more seasons, a rare mix of term and talent on the trade board.
What Lavoie is hearing from inside the Canadiens
Lavoie's message on air was blunt.
Larkin only needs to give the green light and Montreal would move quickly to get a deal done, believing he checks every box they want.
Whether Larkin ever warms to a Canadian market remains the biggest question here, especially with several of his U.S. Olympic teammates reportedly not eager to see him leave the country.
For now, Detroit's captain remains a Red Wing, but the list of teams willing to make a move just got more interesting.
