Angela Price confirms whether or not Carey Price is returning to the Canadiens

The news came directly from his wife, Angela Price, during a fan Q&A on her Instagram story.

Asked point blank whether Carey would be playing in the alumni game, Angela gave fans a clear and personal answer. She confirmed he wanted to participate but a family commitment got in the way.

In her Instagram AMA, Angela explained that the timing simply did not work out. The family already has a significant trip planned for this fall, and fitting the alumni game around it proved impossible.

She made clear the decision came down to scheduling, not a lack of interest from Carey himself.

The Canadiens formally unveiled their alumni roster this week, and it features several fan favorites from the franchise's recent history, including Mike Keane, Patrice Brisebois, Dale Weise, David Desharnais, Paul Byron and David Savard. Chris Nilan and Lucien DeBlois will coach the group behind the bench.

Price's absence will be notable given his standing with the franchise, but the Heritage Classic weekend still promises plenty for Habs fans.

The alumni matchup goes indoors on October 24, followed by the main event the next day, when the current Canadiens and Jets rosters play outdoors at Princess Auto Stadium on October 25.

For now, fans will have to wait for another opportunity to see Price back on Habs ice in an alumni setting, with his family's fall plans taking priority this time around.
