Mikko Rantanen goes viral for embarrassing shootout fail
Dallas Stars superstar forward Mikko Rantanen is human after all, after he flubbed a shootout attempt last night against the Chicago Blackhawks on home ice.
Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen is one of the most talented and best players in the National Hockey League, but he showed that he's human just like the rest of us and prone to mistakes from time to time.
With the score at 3-3 after overtime against the Chicago Blackhawks last night at American Airlines Center, Rantanen was one of several shooters tabbed for the Stars in the subsequent shootout.
But Rantanen is going viral over social media for his mishap as he approached the Chicago net, as the puck bounced off his stick, resulting in him not even getting a shot off.
The Blackhawks would win in the shootout, 4-3.
The good news for the Stars is that Rantanen remains hot despite the shootout flub, as he scored during the game to increase his point streak to six games and counting.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Bertuzzi scored twice for the Blackhawks, who managed to end a six game losing streak with the win at American Airlines Center.
Rantanen, who has been suspended this year already once because of a violation of NHL rules, said his team wasn't able to convert on the chances they had while also giving credit to Chicago goaltender Arvid Soderblom.

The Stars next play Buffalo Sabres, who have won eight straight, on New Year's Eve.
