Forward Mason Marchment, who is now with the Columbus Blue Jackets after being acquired from the Seattle Kraken, allegedly blocked a trade to a Canadian team before his trade to Columbus.

The Seattle Kraken decided to move on from forward Mason Marchment after only 29 games, trading him to the Columbus Blue Jackets earlier this month.
Seattle had originally acquired Marchment from the Dallas Stars over the summer, and he was expected to play a big role for their team, but the fit was never truly there for both sides.
Per a new report, before he was traded to the Blue Jackets, Marchment allegedly blocked a trade that would have sent him to the Toronto Maple Leafs for what would have been the second time in his career.
Mike Futa: Re Mason Marchment: I had heard that he had a no-move clause with regards to Toronto

Elliotte Friedman: I believe that's true, he has a partial no-trade, I heard Columbus was not on it, he didn't have to waive to go there

Since being acquired by the Blue Jackets, Marchment has three points (2G, 1A) in two games.

Mason Marchment Has Already Played For The Maple Leafs In His Career

Marchment was never drafted and was signed by the Maple Leafs to a contract in 2016, and he would play within the Leafs organization until he was traded to the Florida Panthers for Denis Malgin.
He remained with the Panthers until he signed a four year contract with the Dallas Stars in 2022. With Dallas, he helped them reach three straight Western Conference Final appearances.
The Stars then traded Marchment to the Kraken for two draft picks on June 19.
He has 205 points (83G, 122A) in 33 career NHL games.
