The Blue Jackets placed Danton Heinen and Emil Andrae on waivers, per Elliotte Friedman. Both were projected scratches against Colorado on Tuesday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are trimming their roster.
Forward Danton Heinen and defenseman Emil Andrae have both been placed on waivers, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Both were projected scratches on Tuesday when Colorado visited, with Columbus sitting at 5-7-0 entering that game before winning 7-2.
Andrae was also a projected scratch in Dallas on Oct. 31.

Heinen has Canucks and Penguins ties

Heinen is 31 and signed a one-year contract with a $1 million cap hit in July.
He went pointless through his first eight games this season while averaging under 11 minutes a night, and he has 253 points in 619 career NHL games.
Fans in Vancouver and Pittsburgh will know the name.
Heinen played for the Canucks, joined the Penguins in the Marcus Pettersson trade, and then Pittsburgh waived him last December before trading him to Columbus for Yegor Chinakhov.

Andrae arrived in a blockbuster

Andrae is a 24-year-old defenseman who came over from Toronto on Sept. 28 in the six-player blockbuster that sent Kirill Marchenko to the Maple Leafs and brought Matthew Knies to Columbus.
He signed a two-year deal carrying a $1.55 million cap hit with Toronto in July, then was moved before ever suiting up for the Leafs in a regular-season game.
Philadelphia drafted him in the second round in 2020.
He had 13 points in 61 games for the Flyers last season, and he has 20 points in 107 career games entering this year.
Both are on the fringe of the roster right now, so a move to the AHL would not shock anyone.
Now it's a waiting game. Every other NHL team can put in a claim, and if nobody does, Columbus can send both players to the Monsters and keep them in the organization.
