Per a new report from NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun, the Columbus Blue Jackets could end up trading forward Yegor Chinakhov after they acquired Mason Marchment from the Seattle Kraken.

The Columbus Blue Jackets brought aboard some more depth earlier this month when they acquired forward Mason Marchment from the Seattle Kraken, while sending a second round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft back in return for him.
So far, Marchment has made an impact right away for Columbus, scoring two goals in their 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings before the holiday break.
The acquisition of Marchment from the Kraken has made forward Yegor Chinakhov expendable in the eyes of NHL analyst Pierre LeBrun.
LeBrun has listed Chinakhov as a likely trade candidate from the Blue Jackets, and has listed the San Jose Sharks as an option.
Chinakhov asked for a trade before the season and that request hasn't gone anywhere. Now, with the Mason Marchment acquisition, Chinakhov's role in the Jackets' lineup is shaky again.

When teams called earlier this year, I don't think Columbus wanted just a draft pick for Chinakhov. They wanted a player. But now that they've spent a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick on Marchment, they might be OK recouping a second-round pick for the 2020 No. 21 pick. It just so happens the Sharks have two second-round picks this year, their own and the Colorado Avalanche's. - Pierre LeBrun

Chinakhov asked for a trade from Columbus before the season, but that request was not granted.

Yegor Chinakhov Is A First Round Pick Of The Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets took Chinakhov with the 21st overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and he would make his NHL debut in a Blue Jackets sweater in 2021-22.
He's played his entire NHL career in Columbus, but has struggled with various injuries, causing him to miss several games over the last two seasons.
He has six points (3G, 3A) in 29 games so far this year.
