Elliotte Friedman added his voice to the ongoing feud between Connor Bedard and Paul Bissonnette.

Connor Bedard has been the subject of much criticism this season as the Blackhawks struggle to improve in the standings.
The 19-year-old has 16 goals and 48 points through 54 games, making him the team's top scorer, but to some, that is not good enough.
Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Messier has recently criticized Bedard saying he hasn't earned his ice time.
Since those comments were made, other analysts have joined in, pointing out the flaws in Bedard's game.
Former NHL enforcer Paul Bissonnette was very adamant in sharing his opinions on Bedard, leading the center to take a shot back at him with comments of his own.
His team has backed him up so far during this drama as they posted Bedard's stats against Bissonnette's on X, highlighting how the former 1st overall pick has more points in his last 21 games than Biz did in his entire career.
Now, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has added his thoughts to this situation, noting how it is common for first overall picks to receive such criticism as they adapt to the league.
"I mean, McDavid's game was picked apart. Matthews game has been picked apart. The best players of their generations, when they first got into the NHL, all of their games were picked apart. So on one level, I think that is a compliment of Bedard that so much is expected of him. He's a number-one pick. He's a really talented player, and when people tune in, they want to be impressed."

After all, if you are a first overall pick, odds are you are going to be playing for a pretty bad team.
That is certainly the case for Bedard, and perhaps that makes him look a little bit worse than he actually is.
That being said, Bedard has never been known for his defensive prowess, and that is certainly an area of his game that he needs to improve on.
For now though, there isn't really an pressure on the Blackhawks to succeed, so there is no need for Bedard to feel too much pressure.
