Chicago Blackhawks top forward Connor Bedard spoke with emotion about yesterday's trade of Jason Dickinson to the Edmonton Oilers.

It's part of the business in the NHL, but yesterday's trade of forward Jason Dickinson wasn't easy for Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard, who will miss the playoffs for the third straight year to start his career.
The Blackhawks traded Dickinson and Colton Dach to the Edmonton Oilers for Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional first round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.
Bedard, who was taken with the first overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, said that it wasn't a good feeling that Chicago is trading away players who help them win.
Two weeks ago, me, [Colton Dach] and Greener were on vacation, talking about, 'After we win the Cup, we're going to go back.' It's hard."

"It's motivating that this is the last year that we're in a spot where we're moving guys that help us win... That's a shitty feeling. [We'll] just try to not let that happen [again]. - Connor Bedard
So far this year with the Blackhawks, Dickinson had 13 points (6G, 7A) in 47 games played while Dach had nine points (3G, 6A) in 53 games played.
Before the trade of Dickinson and Dach, the Blackhawks also traded Connor Murphy to the Oilers.

The Blackhawks Will Miss The Playoffs Again

The Blackhawks have not made the playoffs since the "bubble" in Edmonton of 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
During that time, they still had longtime Blackhawks players who helped them win multiple Cups like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith and Corey Crawford on the ice.
Bedard is now the face of the franchise since being taken first overall in 2023, but he's clearly looking forward to the time when the Blackhawks acquire players at the deadline instead of trade them.
