Connor Bedard was given a 10-minute misconduct penalty in last night's game for a reason you don't see too often, which was the abuse of an official.

The Chicago Blackhawks' 19-year-old phenomenon, Connor Bedard, was assessed a 10-minute misconduct penalty on Thursday during his team's 4-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.
The penalty occurred late in the third period when, with the Blackhawks trailing 3-2, Bedard was pushed to the ice in the attacking zone by a few sticks from several opposing players.
Even though it appeared there was contact, no penalty was being called, and play continued. After his turn on the ice, Bedard headed to the bench, where an official spoke to him briefly. A short time later, he was called for abuse of officials.
While it's impossible to know what Bedard said, replays don't suggest he displayed much emotion, so he must have uttered one of those "magic words" referees won't tolerate.

Social media can't figure out just what Bedard did to deserve this

Even the announcers seemed flummoxed by the call, and Twitter/X couldn't divulge what exactly led the reigning Calder Memorial Trophy winner to be sent to the penalty box.
After the game, Bedard wasn't saying much on it, nor did he attempt to plead his case. When asked about it, he simply said he didn't think it was "too crazy" and admitted that the referee is always correct.
"I don't think it was too crazy, but he's the ref, so he gets to make that call," Bedard told reporters." You don't really expect that, but it happens."

"He just didn't like what I said. I gotta be smarter with my words," Bedard admitted to reporters.

There truly has not been a dull moment this NHL season, and just when you think you've seen it all, well, you haven't.
