Former NHLer calls out The Athletic ahead of the 2nd round
The first second round matchup is set, the New York Rangers will be facing off against the Carolina Hurricanes in what is expected to be a feisty series. Well, the fierceness has already started with the Hurricanes limiting home ticket buyers to the location only, preventing anyone from NY from buying tickets.
The Athletic quickly slammed down the business plan of Carolina, however former NHLer Aaron Ward defended the Carolina Hurricanes. Ward went on X and quote tweeted the Athletic the following:
For God sakes, it's not new! A healthy population of one fanbase, the same one now, obsessed over this back in May 2022 if memory serves me correct. Also, if you know the demographics of the RDU area, NYR will be well represented by actual residents.
@TheAthleticNHL
be better
He replied to the following statement made by the Athletic:
The Hurricanes are looking to preserve their home-ice advantage again.
Ticket sales for Carolina home games against the Rangers are being restricted to fans from North Carolina, South Carolina, and select parts of Virginia, per Ticketmaster.
Aaron Ward is right, it isn't anything of new, as many fans want to give the city the chance to buy tickets first before away fans can come, and why shouldn't the organization capitalize from an advantage like this?
More details to come.
