Calgary Flames forward Ryan Lomberg had words for Edmonton's Alec Regula in a crazy postgame interview after the Flames took down the Oilers in Calgary in the most recent Battle of Alberta between the two divisional foes.
It was another rowdy edition of the famed Battle of Alberta between the divisional foes Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers, and it was the Flames who finally picked up their first win over the Oilers on home ice in their last seven games.
The Flames won 3-2 thanks in large part to the third goal in the last five games from Ryan Lomberg, who is playing in his second year in a Flames sweater after helping the Florida Panthers win the Stanley Cup in 2024.
After the game, Lomberg had a feisty postgame interview in which he threw some shade at Edmonton's Alec Regula while referencing a popular Canadian pizza chain.
Lot of net. I got a little Pizza 73 deal here. So I think that (Alec) Regula, whatever his name was, he might be helping out with some of that. I told him I handed some pizzas out over the break, and I didn't mean to me. I thought we were gonna go around town and hand them out but, no, good on him. Shout out Pizza 73. Great pizza. Put it right in the oven there. - Ryan Lomberg
So far this year for the Flames, Lomberg has four points (3G, 1A) in 34 games. Even with the win, there is still far more work to do for Calgary if they have any realistic intention of catching Edmonton in the Pacific Division standings.
The Flames Beat The Oilers At Home For The First Time In A Long Time
The Flames finally beat the Oilers in front of their home fans at Scotiabank Saddledome, and it was their first win in their last seven tries against their divisional foes.
Oilers goalie Connor Ingram played well despite the loss, which was his third straight after the injury to Tristan Jarry which forced his call-up from the American Hockey League affiliate Bakersfield Condors.
The Oilers will next play the Winnipeg Jets on the road, and the Flames host the Boston Bruins.
