The price to acquire Jacob Markstrom has been set by the Calgary Flames
The price to acquire goaltender Jacob Markstrom on the trade market has been set by the Calgary Flames.
It's no secret that the Calgary Flames are looking at their options to trade their number one goalie, Jacob Markstrom, this summer. However, it won't be easy to get it done.
The 34-year-old goalie has a no-move clause, meaning he'll have to waive it before his team can trade him. In addition, the Flames' asking price has been revealed by a league executive and it could turn off a few teams from going after him.
As you can guess, Calgary won't let Markstrom go unless they get what they want in return: a first-round pick and a high-end prospect.
Per Bruce Garrioch:
"A league executive said they believe the Flames would likely be looking for a package that would include a first-round pick and high-end young prospect."
The New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators all showed interest in Markstrom. Everything is set for a bidding war between them for the Flames' goalie. We can imagine that teams who don't get him will fall back on free agents like Linus Ullmark or Ilya Samsonov.
