Flames goalie Devin Cooley left Wednesday's game with a lower-body injury after a collision with Colton Dach, and the speculation has already started.

The Calgary Flames lost more than a game in Edmonton on Wednesday night.
They may have lost the hottest goalie in the league for a while.
Devin Cooley was run into by Oilers forward Colton Dach late in the first period of the Battle of Alberta.
Dach got a two-minute penalty for goaltender interference with 12 seconds left, and Cooley stayed in to finish the period.
He wasn't there for the second.
Dustin Wolf took over, and the Flames confirmed midway through the frame that Cooley wouldn't return.
The league may take a look into this play for further discipline.

What the Flames know so far

Calgary hasn't given a timeline.
Forward Brennan Othmann also left with an upper-body injury, so the night went sideways in a hurry.
Edmonton won 4-0, which snapped the Flames' four-game winning streak.
Cooley had stopped eight of nine shots before leaving, and Wolf finished with 20 saves on 23 shots.

Why the timing hurts

Cooley had been the story of Calgary's week.
The NHL named him its second star for the week ending Oct. 25 after he stopped 66 of 68 shots in two starts, and Wednesday was his fifth straight start.
Now the crease belongs to Wolf again, and the Flames are in Seattle on Friday.
Nobody outside the team knows how bad this is, but one voice on X had a read after watching the replay.
Harjas Grewal said it looks like a likely MCL injury, and that the time missed often runs four to six weeks depending on severity.
He added that the same mechanism can cause a high ankle sprain, but the ankle appears fine on the video.
That's an outside opinion, not a diagnosis.
Until the Flames say more, this one stays a waiting game.
