The Buffalo Sabres have struggled for over a decade and a half now, and two games into the year, they're already being embarrassed by opposing broadcasters.

The Buffalo Sabres currently hold the longest post-season drought of any team in North American sports, and with the team set up the way that they are, it doesn't appear as though things are going to be changing anytime soon.
While the core is talented led by Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin, they just don't have the depth, the star power or the coaching that other teams do, and it's leading into what may be another disappointing campaign in 2025/26 following a few tough games to start the year.

Sabres Called Out on New Jersey Devils Broadcast

Unsurprisingly, that means they've been the butt of many jokes in recent years, and that has continued early in the new season as a New Jersey Devils broadcaster called the team out during a matchup with the Lightning.
Despite not being involved in the game, the broadcaster threw shade at how easy things would be when the team goes out to play in Buffalo, with the team already facing a -6 goal differential through just two games of this new season.
Sure, it's easy to throw shade at the Sabres, and the broadcaster tried to play it off as not disrespectful, but until this team gets better, they'll continue to be a punching bag for the rest of the National Hockey League, their broadcasters and fans of opposing teams.
Ultimately, this team has some young talent, but they simply haven't proven at all that they can be consistently competitive, and until that happens, they will remain the butt of all the jokes as the organization continues to struggle.
