Connor McDavid took a major discount to re-sign in Edmonton, and now his agent has revealed the motivation behind getting to that number.
This off-season in Edmonton was all about captain Connor McDavid and getting the best out of their future by re-signing their captain, and just days before the regular season, they managed to get it done.

Simply put, this was all Connor's team putting this deal together, and as he's made it clear, he wanted to earn a good amount of money while focusing all of his energy on finally taking this team to the Stanley Cup.
So on top of just, you know, exploring everything from a conceptual standpoint, was trying to find the right math and the right term that you know, most often we acquiesce to Connor's ability to win as an Oilers while, you know, maintaining protect his individual value.
Ultimately, it will go down as one of the all-time great team moves from McDavid, who clearly needs winning more than he does money, and now, we'll wait to see if the Oilers can finally get it done in 2025/26.
