Sam Bennett officially gets away with dirty hit on Brad Marchand

The Boston Bruins won't be happy today after the Department of Player Safety decided not to hand Sam Bennett a suspension for his hit on Brad Marchand in game two.

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery was not particularly happy about the hit that Bennett made on Marchand in game three. He seemed to imply that Bennett was trying to take the Bruins captain out of the game on the play.

«People can say it wasn't intentional, but we have our view of it.»

If he was, he was successful, as Marchand ended up leaving the bench shortly after the hit. This lead to much speculation about his status.

After the game, Jim Montgomery updated Marchand's status, calling him day-to-day with an upper-body injury. He seemed to imply that the hit from Bennett is the reason Marchand is out, adding that there is a history between the two players.

Now that the 5PM EST deadline has past, we know for sure that Bennett will not be receiving so much as a fine for the play.

The 5PM deadline for the NHL Department of Player Safety to make a ruling on a suspension for Sam Bennett has now passed.

This means that Sam Bennett will not face any supplemental discipline for his hit on Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand last night.

Hopefully Marchand will be healthy enough to return for game four. Otherwise, the Bruins could very well find themselves down 3-1 in the series.
