Recently, rumours began over Pavel Zacha involving Boston and Vancouver, and now, Elliotte Friedman has confirmed those trade talks.
While the 2025/26 NHL season is less than a month old, there are already teams set to make big decisions on their future, and it appears as though a big trade is brewing somewhere in the West of Canada.
Recently,
rumours began over conversations between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks, with the team reportedly discussing veteran centre Pavel Zacha, who the Bruins may trade unless they're a playoff contender this season, which is unlikely in the brutal Atlantic Division.
Elliotte Friedman Confirms Discussions Surrounding Pavel Zacha
Now, on the latest Hockey Night in Canada on Sportsnet, Friedman has discussed those trade talks, noting that he believes the talks date back to the summer, and if the Canucks believe they're a contending team, this is a deal they'll push hard to make.
In 10 games this season, Zacha has tallied 2 goals and 9 points, and while he's likely not going to be a point-per-game player over 82, with the injury to
Filip Chytil, the Canucks acquiring a solid two-way centre to fill up the 2C role makes perfect sense.
On paper, it's the perfect fit, but if the Canucks struggle out of the gates and don't find themselves as a playoff contender, they may begin looking more towards the future than acquiring a veteran like Zacha.
For now though, the Canucks are 4-5-0 and find themselves in sixth place in the Pacific Division, but with a talented roster, don't be surprised to see them get something done with Boston here.
