Charlie McAvoy's injury at the Four Nations hampered him for quite some time, but now the Bruins veteran has made a bold prediction about next season.

The Boston Bruins struggled mightily in 2024/25, with everything that could possibly go wrong going wrong, including injuries to Hampus Lindholm and leader Charlie McAvoy.
The McAvoy injury was likely the one that hit them much worse, as the veteran was hurt through no fault of his own at the Four Nations, and the ensuing months saw this team torn down through trades and other injuries.

Charlie McAvoy Makes it Clear: The Boston Bruins are Still a Playoff Team

That's led to many people writing the Bruins off heading into 2025/26, and with a loaded Eastern Conference, the expectations are that this team could even be bottom-10 in the National Hockey League next season.
However, the veteran doesn't feel like that, as he's back to full health ahead of the new season, making a bold statement on the Bruins chances heading into the 2025/26 campaign.
"This is the first time in my career that we're going into a year where we're not a playoff team by a lot of people's metrics.

We're a playoff team every day of the week in my mind. I think we have everything we need on this roster to be that. That's the goal, and our standards don't deviate regardless of what people think we may or may not be. We went out and got guys that are going to make us a tough team to play against. We're going to buy into that as best we can, and our team objective is going to be a tough out every time you play the Boston Bruins.''

Even without Marchand, Coyle, Carlo and others, the team have a clear belief in themselves and their system, and with new coach Marco Sturm at the helm, they clearly have high expectations.
In the East, there are at least 10 other teams that have arguably better rosters that Boston, so only time will tell if the Bruins can be as good as McAvoy expects, with the team potentially ready to make some more big trades if they struggle out of the gate.
