Dylan Larkin is expected to attend Red Wings training camp this season, with Detroit hoping Steve Yzerman's exit eases the tension.
Dylan Larkin's future in Detroit has been the biggest storyline of the Red Wings' offseason, and it looks like the drama is heading into training camp instead of getting resolved beforehand.
According to a new report, the expectation around the organization is that Larkin will show up for camp and start the season with the Red Wings.
That's a shift from the idea that a trade could still get done before players report in September.

Larkin requested a trade back in June, and the list of teams he'd accept a deal to has stayed short all summer.
Detroit has reportedly wanted a first line center in return, and no team has been willing to meet that price.
With the clock running out and the front office still searching for a permanent general manager, a trade before camp opens is becoming less and less likely.
Why Yzerman's exit matters
Steve Yzerman stepped down from the GM chair last month, moving into more of an advisory role with Shawn Horcoff currently handling day to day duties.
Some around the organization believe that change could help smooth things over with Larkin, since much of his frustration reportedly stemmed from how the front office handled his trade request in the first place.
Whether that's enough to repair the relationship remains to be seen.
Larkin has given no indication his stance has softened, and reporting to a locker room after publicly requesting out creates an awkward dynamic no matter how it's framed.
What comes next for the Red Wings
Detroit still needs to hire a new general manager, and whoever takes the job will inherit the Larkin situation immediately.
For now, all signs point toward the captain being on the ice when camp opens, trade request or not.
