Pavel Zacha just posted a career year, and now Boston has to decide what he's actually worth keeping.

Zacha finished the 2025-26 season with 30 goals and 65 points in 78 games, both career highs for the 29 year old center.
He did it while playing a key role on Boston's top power play and settling in as arguably the best two way center the Bruins have had since Patrice Bergeron.
That kind of production doesn't go unnoticed around the league, and it hasn't.
Teams have already started calling.

Why the phone is ringing

Zacha is entering the final season of his contract at a very team friendly 4.75 million dollar cap hit.
He becomes extension eligible on July 1, and insiders say Boston's preference is to lock him up rather than move him.
But with the center market thin across the NHL this year, a productive, affordable, two way center like Zacha is exactly the type of asset other teams are desperate for.

The real question Boston has to answer

If the Bruins extend Zacha, it likely comes at a significant raise from his current number, something GM Don Sweeney has already acknowledged is coming.
If they don't get a deal done and risk losing him for nothing next summer, that's a bigger problem.
Selling now, while his value is arguably at its peak, is the alternative nobody wants to say out loud but everyone is thinking about.
For now, Boston says extending Zacha is the priority.
Whether that actually happens before the trade calls get more serious is the story to watch all summer.
