Nathan MacKinnon shares his true thoughts on playing with Connor McDavid
Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid have been on fire at the Olympics, and now the Avalanche star has opened up on playing with No. 97 for Team Canada.
Through two games at the 2026 Olympic Games, Team Canada have been absolutely dominant, outscoring their opponents 10-1 in that time, showing why many see them as the gold medal favourite in the tournament.
Obviously, this success comes through a deep roster, but it's their stars leading the way, with 6 points from Connor McDavid an 4 from Nathan MacKinnon as they have made a major statement early on.
Nathan MacKinnon addresses teaming up with Connor McDavid
Unsurprisingly, this is only the second time we've seen some of Canada's top stars team up, with it being the first time at the Olympic Games following the return of best-on-best hockey and the NHL to the Games.
Now, the Avalanche superstar has opened up on what it's like to play with McDavid, and he's full of nothing but compliments for the Oilers captain, with the line they made with Macklin Celebrini against Switzerland having the NHL world buzzing.
I'd be lying if I said it wasn't cool. I love the game. I'm inspired by Connor. I think he's the best & he pushes me to be even better... To play on a line with him is a blessing.
Clearly, the best players have nothing but respect for one another, and watching how dominant these two are when they're on the ice together, it's very easy to see both are thrilled to be playing together.
There's still work to do for Canada before they can become an official gold medal threat, but if they keep up this level of play throughout the tournament, teams will certainly struggle to beat them.
